Turtle Rock is a small lighthouse located on the east bank of the Schuylkill River at the north end of Boathouse Row and just north of the Art Museum in Philadelphia. The lighthouse was placed into operation sometime around August 1887 at a cost of $2,660. For more information on the little known lighthouse, see the More Info Link at the bottom of the page.

Boathouse Row is not a marina but a group of club houses that are the meeting places for row boating enthusiast. A banner on the Bachelor's Barge Club, seen here, indicates that it is the oldest such club in the United States. It was organized in 1853.

Driving Directions

Boathouse Row is on just north of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The museum provides direction to it at http://www.philamuseum.org/information/directions.shtml Once there, follow the loop around to the north of the Art Museum and follow Kelly Drive.
